What is Kratom?

Kratom’s formal name is Mitragyna Speciosa. It is indigenous to South East Asia and has been used there for thousands of years. It grows in the form of a tree and is related to the coffee family.

Kratom’s been used in South East Asia for thousands of years with no related fatalities. In small doses, it tends to have a stimulant effect, but in higher doses, it can have similar effects to an opioid, but without the risk.

People have used Kratom in South East Asia to be able to work long hours and help with pain. Many North American’s are using Kratom for mental performance enhancement, pain relief, anti-anxiety, opioid withdraws, or just to boost their mood.

Kratom works by affecting your opioid receptors, the main difference between Kratom and opioids is that it does not bind to your opioid receptors, it simply stimulates them, which helps reduce the chance for addiction.

There have been no reported fatalities solely related to Kratom, all the reported fatalities had other more dangerous substances in their body.

How to Take Kratom?

People in Southeast Asian traditionally consumed kratom by crushing its leaves and making it into a tea, or by chewing the leaves.

People in North America tend to mix the ground Kratom leaves into a drink and consume.

Drinking: An average dose of Kratom in about 3 grams. Most people either mix this with water or juice, people say that juice potentiates the kratom, and makes the effects more noticeable. Smaller doses typically have more of a stimulant effect, while higher doses typically have more of an opioid like effect.
